Kale

This is the start of a new section of the blog and I am really excited! We are going to be focusing on super foods because I truly enjoy sharing the benefits these amazing plants provide your body!

I must admit that I was skeptical about kale when I first tried it years ago but ever since that day I am so glad I did. It's rough green leaves can be intimidating but I promise you won't regret trying this super food.

Kale is amazing. I am sure you have heard a lot of hype about super foods but kale really has amazing benefits and I want to share a few with you.

  • Kale is packed with iron. Iron is a must for good health! It supports the body in the production of hemoglobin and enzymes as well as helps transport oxygen throughout the body.
  • Kale is packed with Vitamin K. Vitamin K is a powerful nutrient that can help fight against various cancer cells. Your body better absorbs vitamins from foods such as kale than it does from a pill form vitamin. In addition to protecting against cancer, Vitamin K is essential for bone health and the prevention of blood clots.
  • Another vitamin  kale is loaded with is Vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for good skin and vision. In addition Vitamin A helps protect against lung and oral cancers.
  • Kale is a heart healthy food - it can help lower cholesterol levels
  • Kale is loaded with fiber which is what makes it a great detox food - and a GREAT addition to your smoothies or juices!
  • And let's not forget that kale is a low calorie super food

My favorite way to eat kale is raw. I like to clean my kale and then drizzle it with olive oil, lemon juice, pepper, and a dash of salt- Delish!!!

There are so many things you can do with kale though. If you haven't done so yet, I truly hope you give this super food a try. There are so many things you can do with kale- have fun trying recipes with it! From smoothies and  juices to kale chips and salads the possibilities are endless! Enjoy my friends
